“Paris Can Wait” is a beautiful travelogue for France. As Anne and Jacques eat their way through France and visit museums and other monuments, I wanted to buy an airline ticket to France, but I couldn’t wait for the pair to get to Paris. This movie was quite slow. After a while I just wanted Jacques to put the pedal to the metal and get to Paris.
The wife of a successful movie producer takes a car trip from the south of France to Paris with one of her husband’s associates.
“Paris Can Wait” stars Diane Lane as Anne. Alec Balwin plays Anne’s husband Michael and Arnaud Viard is Jacques. The acting is superb.
“Paris Can Wait” was written and directed by Eleanor Coppola, an 81 year old American documentary filmmaker, artist, and writer. She is married to director Francis Ford Coppola. If I had known when I watched this film that the director/writer was 81, I would have been more impressed. This is an amazing accomplishment for anyone, let alone a woman that age. Even though her name is Coppola and her husband is Francis, her age, sex and the fact it was filmed in France makes this film a miracle. In Hollywood, you never see movies that an 81 year old woman writes let alone directs.
The cinematography is beautiful.
