JOHNNY ENGLISH STRIKES AGAIN

PG rated

Are you looking for a very very funny movie for the entire family? Do you need a good old fashioned belly laugh? “Johnny English Strikes Again” is the movie for you and you can take the whole family even the little one to this third installment of the Johnny English comedies.

After a cyber-attack reveals the identity of all of the active undercover agents in Britain, Johnny English, (Rowan Atkinson), who teaches geography at a fancy private school, is forced to come out of retirement to find the mastermind hacker, Pegasus, (Adam James). English’s side-kick, Bough, (Ben Miller), is there to help thwart evil. Academy Award Winner Emma Thompson plays the Prime Minister. You can’t have a comedy without a semi romantic connection and Olga Kurylenko in the role of Ophelia fills that spot..

Emma Thompson is one of Britain’s great actresses and she doesn’t fail to satisfy in “Johnny English Strikes Again.” Whoever provided her costumes and make-up did a superb job too. She dresses and has a hair-do just like Prime Minister Theresa May.

Johnny English is reminiscent of Peter Seller’s Inspector Clouseau but not quite as bumbling. I like Johnny English while I wasn’t that crazy about Clouseau.

William Davies, who scripted the previous Johnny English screenplays out did himself in this rendition. It is the funniest of the three. David Kerr directed.

I went to see this at a screening for film critics only, a tough crowd of hard-nose cynics, but “Johnny English Strikes Again” had the entire room shaking with laughter throughout the whole film and that’s saying a lot. Even when you know what is going to happen, you laugh anyway in spite of yourself.

In a world filled with anger and hate, spending two hours in a dark theater laughing feels fabulous; I recommend it. I loved this film and plan to buy it and play it whenever I need a good laugh.

This film is definitely worth the money to see it in the theater. Take the whole family with you. Even young children can enjoy some of the slap stick antics. There is no profanity, lewdness or anything to embarrass you in front of your children,.

“Johnny English Strikes Again” is playing at AMC Showplace Edwardsville 12.
